Registration and transcription of lease agreements under Luxembourg law

It is becoming commonplace for lease agreements (commercial as well as residential) not to be registered and transcribed in Luxembourg. Indeed, although that the number of executed lease agreements has been increasing since the beginning of 2013, many landlords and/or tenants are not aware of these procedures or still believe that they are not mandatory under Luxembourg law. The return from the summer holidays seems like a great moment to be reminded of the key points of the registration and transcription procedures.
